The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup event scheduled for December 12–14, 2025 in Lake Placid has been officially canceled due to necessary repairs to the observation deck at the Olympic Jumping Complex’s HS128 facility, with the competition now being relocated to Klingenthal, Germany, on the same weekend. A recent inspection revealed structural issues in the steel supports of the observation deck—part of the athlete pathway critical to FIS regulations—making the venue unsuitable to safely host the event.
The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to maintaining world-class ski jumping facilities and expressed optimism that future World Cup competitions will return to Lake Placid following construction.
USA Ski Jumping CEO Tom Bickner described the outcome as “disappointing” in the short term but emphasized the long-term benefits: “We’re looking at the upcoming opportunities,” he said. He added that the improvements may even lead to further enhancements across the site. Although the primary jump is out of operation, the secondary jump remains functional, according to ORDA Communications Director Darcy Norfolk Rowe.
go Lake Placid had only recently rejoined the World Cup circuit after a 32-year absence, hosting consecutive events including the debut of women’s ski jumping on U.S. soil this February—an achievement now overshadowed by this unforeseen setback.
